Multidisciplinary teams bring pain relief, nursing care, physiotherapy and counselling directly to homes, so elders can stay close to family and familiar surroundings.
Registered society led by Gram Panchayat presidents and PDOs, endorsed and coordinated with PHCs and government health systems for reliable continuity of care.
Prioritising fully bedridden elders and socially isolated seniors, ensuring no one in Vandse, Chittoor, Idur Kunjnadi, Aloor, Haklady, Hemmady or Kerady suffers unseen.
What We Offer
Niramaya’s visiting doctors provide structured palliative assessments, listen to the patient and caregiver, adjust medicines for pain and other symptoms, and coordinate with PHCs and Kasturba Medical College Hospital Manipal to ensure safe, continuous care at home.
Trained nurses visit homes to manage bed sores, catheters and other nursing needs, while checking for early warning signs of deterioration. They teach families simple techniques for safe positioning, hygiene and day-to-day comfort, reducing stress and avoidable hospital trips.
Physiotherapists travel with the team to provide gentle exercises and mobility support at home. Even small gains in strength or movement can transform a patient’s daily comfort, reducing contractures and allowing families to reposition their loved one more safely and easily.
Serious illness affects the whole family. Niramaya counsellors and team members create a safe space for elders and caregivers to express worry, grief and exhaustion, offering practical coping tools and, when invited, spiritual comfort that respects local traditions and beliefs.
Through its community-owned model, Niramaya provides basic palliative medicines, essential equipment on loan, a donated ambulance for outreach and coordinated transfers, and a free dead body freezer so families can conduct final rites with dignity and without financial strain.
Rooted in seven Gram Panchayats and guided by palliative care leaders, Niramaya offers a stable bridge between families, PHCs and hospitals. Transparent governance, disciplined budgeting and strong clinical partnerships ensure that every rupee and every visit reaches those who need it most.
Formed and governed by presidents and PDOs of seven Gram Panchayats, Niramaya is a registered society with clear accountability to local communities and the government system it complements.
The model prioritises fully bedridden elders and socially isolated seniors who are least able to travel or seek help, ensuring that scarce resources are directed to those at highest risk of suffering alone.
Technical and referral partnerships with Pallium India, Kasturba Medical College Hospital Manipal, KHPT, Aruvu Collaboratory and PHCs anchor Niramaya’s work in proven palliative care practice.
An annual budget of ₹53.7 lakh supports 305+ beneficiaries across seven Panchayats, demonstrating a low-cost, high-impact model that CSR and government partners can confidently replicate across Karnataka.
Our Process
Niramaya keeps the process simple and human. Referrals flow in from families, ASHAs, Panchayats and hospitals. Our team then visits, assesses needs and plans regular follow-up. At every step, we stay in conversation with caregivers and link closely with PHCs and hospitals as required.
A family member, ASHA worker, Gram Panchayat, PHC or hospital shares details of a bedridden or seriously ill person in Vandse, Chittoor, Idur Kunjnadi, Aloor, Haklady, Hemmady or Kerady, through phone, in-person visit or written note.
The multidisciplinary team schedules a home visit to understand the patient’s condition, environment and support system. They confirm eligibility, explain Niramaya’s role and take consent from the family before adding the person as a beneficiary.
Based on the assessment, the team prepares a simple care plan covering medicines, nursing, physiotherapy and counselling. They decide visit frequency, coordinate with PHC or hospital doctors and ensure the family knows whom to contact between visits.
Doctors, nurses, physiotherapists and counsellors conduct regular home visits using Niramaya’s vehicles and ambulance. They adjust treatment as illness progresses, arrange equipment or referrals and stand with families through decline, death and bereavement.
Our Team
Niramaya brings together doctors, nurses, physiotherapists, counsellors, ASHAs, Panchayat leaders and volunteers from across Kundapura Taluk. Guided by Pallium India and Kasturba Medical College Manipal, this team blends clinical skill with deep local knowledge, ensuring each visit is both medically sound and culturally rooted in the everyday realities of rural life.

We primarily support fully bedridden elders and socially isolated seniors living in the Vandse, Chittoor, Idur Kunjnadi, Aloor, Haklady, Hemmady and Kerady Gram Panchayat areas. If you are unsure about eligibility, you can contact us to discuss the patient’s condition and location.
Yes. Our core home-based palliative and supportive care services, including doctor and nurse visits, basic palliative medicines and counselling, are provided free of cost to registered beneficiaries. If any service involves external charges, we explain this clearly to the family in advance.
During a home visit, our team may provide doctor consultation, nursing care (such as wound dressing or catheter care), physiotherapy, counselling, and review of medicines and equipment needs. The exact services depend on the patient’s condition and care plan.
Referrals can come through local Gram Panchayats, Primary Health Centres, hospitals, or directly from families and community members. Once we receive details, our team assesses the patient’s needs and, if appropriate, includes them in the beneficiary list and care schedule.
We support beneficiaries with essential medical equipment on a need and availability basis. This may include items like hospital cots or other aids; families are informed about what can be provided and for how long, based on our resources at the time.
The donated ambulance helps our team reach patients and, when needed, coordinate safe transport in collaboration with hospitals and PHCs. We also provide a free dead body freezer to support families during the immediate period after death, subject to availability and local logistics.
We coordinate closely with local Primary Health Centres and partner institutions such as Kasturba Medical College Hospital Manipal, KHPT, Aruvu Collaboratory and Pallium India. This collaboration helps us ensure continuity of care, specialist support and access to higher-level facilities when needed.
Yes. Home-based care will remain the core of Niramaya Society’s work even after the 20–30 bed Community Palliative Care Center becomes operational. The center is intended mainly for short-term inpatient palliative care and training, while long-term support will continue at home.
Yes. Our team offers counselling for both patients and caregivers, and we provide practical guidance on positioning, feeding, hygiene, pain relief and emotional support. We aim to empower families to care confidently for their loved ones between visits.
Niramaya Society runs on a defined annual budget to sustain free services for beneficiaries and depends on support from Panchayats, partners and well-wishers. Community members who wish to help can contact us to explore options such as donations, equipment support or volunteering within local guidelines.
Whether you are a family member, ASHA, Panchayat leader, PHC staff or CSR partner, you can share patient details, request support or explore collaboration through this form. Our team reviews each message carefully and responds with a call wherever possible.
